Hi! This is Zelie, Jemima’s dog. You might have read about me in her bio – she calls me a naughty dog, but she’s exaggerating! I’m just a little…mischievous. I get blamed for everything! Harper, the “good dog”, has done plenty of mischief herself.
Anyway, now that I have set the record straight, I am writing the blog today because I am so excited about Mom’s new book, The Garden Party! It is the first book that Mom has written with a dog in it! I think she should have made the dog the star of the book, but it is still a great read! Harper and I have been watching her work on it, and we love all the little animals! Besides the dog, there are mice, a bird (ok, I’d like to eat the bird), a bat, an owl, etc. They are almost as cute as I am! I will keep bugging her until she writes a dog book. Everyone loves dogs! Don’t they?
Mom is grateful to Nadezhda Goretovskaia, who illustrated this book. Mom cannot draw at all. She always says she is amazed at how Nadezhda can bring her characters to life. Mom is also thankful she has Megan Ryan to edit her books. Sometimes we distract her, and she can miss something. Arf! Mom thinks Luca Funari is a saint because of how many times she has to send back the formatting. He does the Spanish translations too.
Mom loves us the best though. We don’t help much with the books, but we give lots of cuddles. In return, she gives us treats and toys. We even have matching sweaters! She thinks we are the smartest dogs in the world, and she doesn’t even know that I can type!
I must go bark at the new neighbors, but it was nice to meet you! Thank you for being our friend, and we hope your little humans love this book as much as we do!
